RARE Marlin, Model 94 SADDLE RING TRAPPER, CAL: 44-40, MFG: 1905-34, SN: 423099, Lever Action Carbine, 15'' barrel & mag. This is an extremely rare short barreled trapper which has be recognized by the ATF as qualifying as a curio & relic & is listed by serial number in the ATF C&R booklet as approved as a short barreled rifle (SBR) removed from NFA restrictions. In other words, this carbine is a legal SBR carbine. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid. They carry a thin layer of added finish over the original finish, with several small nicks, scratches & minor contusions. The metal blue finish on the barrel & tube has toned to a brown patina, with some remains of original blue in protected areas. The once blued receiver & case-hardened lever have worn mostly to a gun metal gray, with a thin layer of brown patina. Bore is clean & bright, but with little remaining rifling. The barrel holds a roll over rear sight, with two additional leafs, stamped with a 50 for 50 yds & a 1 & 2 on subsequent leafs for 100 & 200 yds. The front sight is a carbine style small blade on box. Buttstock carries a carbine metal buttplate. Staple saddle ring. These little trappers were extremely popular on the early traplines & are highly desired & collectible amongst lever collectors. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 4000 to 6000
