CUSTOM Charles Lancaster London, DWM Mauser 98, CAL: Marked ELEY .280 RIMLESS on floorplate, MFG: N/A, SN: 13218, Bolt Action Sporting Rifle, 26 1/2'' step-down barrel. A fantastic Charles Lancaster custom built & stocked rifle. The deluxe checkered & round knob pistol grip wood stock is very good. The stock has wonderful grain, but does display numerous minor contusions, scratches & scrapes to the finish. The stock was custom designed with a slight right offset, meaning the buttstock end is a bit right of center , giving the shooter a more centralized line of sight. The metal finish has worn thin & toned to a smooth gray. The rifle floorplate is engraved ''LANCASTER MAUSER./ELEYS 280 RIMLESS''. The barrel carried a Alexander Henry oval ring rifling bore, which is clean, but has worn mostly smooth & sotty areas of roughness. The barrel holds an elevated blade front sight & an elevated flip-up two leaf rear sight, with leaf yardage markings of 100. 300 & 500 yds. Buttstock has a hand checkered buttend rather than a buttplate, with a small edge chip the right of the toe. Sling provisions on stock & barrel.
