Remington, Model 14R CARBINE, .30 REM Cal., MFG: 1926, SN: 97348, Pump Auction Rifle, 18 1/2'' Round barrel, The smooth straight grip wood stocks are in fair condition, as they have multiple 3'' to 5'' cracks on each side of the wrist, which have been partially stabilized with glue & filler. The stock & forend have been sanded & refinished, likely at the same time as stock repair. The stocks still have a nice overall appearance, with some light scratches or contusions. The metal finish has 70% coverage on the barrel, 50% on the receiver & mag tube, toning to a brown patina in areas of loss & with areas of spotting & pitting. Bore is good, dark & with some roughness amongst strong rifling. Rifle is fitted with an adjustable Remington rear sight & Lyman small blade front sight. Stock fitted with a replaced Remington marked buttplate which is a bit ill fitted. Action is tight & functions well. These carbines were popular along trap lines or as brush hunting rifles due to their shorter length. Only 125,000 model 14's & its variants of 14R, 14 1/2, & 14 1/2R rifles were produced. The vast majority of these were the standard length Model 14, with the carbines being the rare variation. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
