RARE Standard Arms, Model G, .25 REM Cal., MFG. 1909-20, SN: 6235, Pump Action & Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' Round barrel. Standard Arms wisely chose not to develop proprietary cartridges for their G (semi auto/ pump) & M (pump only), but chambered them for the readily available, proven Remington .25, .30, .32 & .35 rounds originally developed for the Remington Model 8. What makes this particular rifle unique & special is that it came out of the U.S. Cartridge Co. factory collection. The right side of the receiver carries the company's stamping ''U.S.C.Co. #445- 5-20-10.''. The rifle was purchased by U.S.C.Co. as a test rifle to check the successful functionality of the companies fairly new .25 REM caliber cartridges in this new to the market gas operated rifle. It was likely acquired in May of 1910, as indicated by the stamping on the receiver. The original straight grip wood is excellent & appears to carry the original factory finish. The stock displays numerous small scuffs, scratches & contusions, as one might expect from a test rifle. But also due to being a test rifle, much of the Japan black finish that once covered the elaborate cast brass forearm & buttplate remains. These brass components were supposedly manufactured & provided to the Standard Arms Co. from the famous House of Tiffany foundry. The factory metal blue finish also has high retention at 95% overall, with some minor scratches & abrasions. Bore is excellent & bright. The rifle is fitted with the model unique rear sight mounted in a slot on the front of the receiver & a Lyman ivory bead half moon blade front sight. Another rare & unique vintage Semi auto/pump rifle, with approximations of less than 8,000 produced. Any Standard Arms rifle is fairly rare, but the 25 cal. is the rarest of calibers & this U.S. Cartridge Co. once owned rifle adds to the collectability. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2000 to 4000
