National Postal Meter, M1 Carbine, CAL: .30 Carbine, MFG: 1944, S/N: 4107214, Semi-Auto Rifle, 18'' Round Barrel. The refinished flat pistol grip wood stock is very good, displaying contusions, scrapes & dings, with areas darkened from oils. The stock displays cartouches, the right side is stamped ''NPM'', ''FJA'' in a box & ''Crossed Cannons''. The cartouche on the left side of the stock is very faint & not legible. Sling slot is marked, ''TRIMBLE''. The top of the wrist is stamped with ''Flaming Bomb''. The receiver rates 95% with light wear, & the barrel has toned to metal grey. The back of the receiver is marked in three lines, ''NATIONAL POSTAL METER, S/N''. The front top of receiver is marked, ''U.S.CARBINE'', ''CAL. 30M1''. The barrel band is marked, ''U'', front sling swivel marked, ''UN'' & top of the barrel end is marked, ''MARLIN''. Additional markings on the gun are as followed: Type II trigger housing marked ''N16'', Type II hammer marked ''IN'' & ''NPM'', Type III recoil plate marked ''LN'', Type I sear marked ''SW-N'', lug is marked ''N17'' on the bottom, Type III slide marked ''N10'' inside wide joint, Type I late swivel marked ''UN''. Bore is very good, bright & shiny with spots of roughness & thinned rifling. The barrel holds a blade front sight, with protective wings & is marked, ''N''. The rear sight is a two position aperture sight. Buttstock carries a checkered metal military style buttplate. Comes with correct period green cloth sling, & two 15 Rd. mags, one marked ''IA'', other is marked, ''SW''. This M1 Carbine is in its early configuration. There were only 125k produced with a Marlin barrel. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 800 to 1600
