Asfa Ankara. Model: 1893/38. Cal: 7.92x57mm. MFG: 1898. S/N: 35832. Bolt action rifle. 29'' Barrel. The semi pistol grip wooden stock is very good with scratches, gouges, dents, oil darkening & wear from use/age, Bolt disassembly disc in stock. The metal finish rates 30% with pitting at stock line, pitting on metal parts & brown patina. Left side of receiver is marked with importer marks, ''T C'', ''AS FA'', ''ANK ARA'', ''1898'', Crescent Moon/Stars, S/N, end of barrel is marked with importer marks. Bore is very good, slight darkening & light roughness with crisp rifling. Barleycorn front sight, V-notch tangent rear sight marked 1 to 20. Metal buttplate with wear & brown patina. Bottom sling swivels, has cleaning rod. This Rifle started its life as a ottoman 1893 Mauser chambered in 7.65x53mm, some time in the 1930's it was refurbished at a factory to conform to what would be the m38 pattern, rechambered into 8mm Mauser & Gew 98 style bolt was fitted.
