Starr Arms, Model 1858 Army, CAL: 44, MFG: Late 1850's - early 60's, SN: 22313, Single Action Percussion Revolver, 8'' barrel. The left side of the frame is faintly stamped ''STARR ARMS NEW YORK'', the cylinder is marked with the full SN, & the right side of the frame has a barely legible patent date ''JAN 18 18XX''. The bottom of the wood grips is stamped ''JULY 2 1863'', over a two line ''G H H'', '' xENNAxxSA''. The wood grips are good, displaying contusions, scrapes & dings, with a 1'' crack near the butt. The metal has toned to a mix of metal grey & brown patina, with spotting, cleaned pitting & buff lines on the frame. Bore is fair, with consistent pitting throughout. The barrel carries a blade front sight. Action & cylinder are functional, but not in sync. There were appx 23,000 of this variant produced. By numbers alone (47,000 in total), the Starr Double-Action was one of the most widely available & in-service revolvers of the American Civil War.* Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
