Marlin Ballard Schuetzen Rifle. CAL: 32-40. SN: 20323. MFG: Antique, Lever Falling Block Single Shot Rifle, 30'' Octagon to round barrel. The Swiss patterned cheeked & scalloped pistol grip walnut stocks are very good, having been sanded & refinished long ago. The stocks show thinning finish & some oil staining. There are numerous small handling marks, scratches & contusions, with a 1'' stress crack at the forend tip. The barrel has worn mostly gun metal gray, with a thin brown patina. The case-hardened receiver has also faded to gun metal gray, displaying smokey outlines of faded case-colors. Barrel is stamped on top flat 32-40. On the bottom flat under forearm & the forearm are both stamped with matching SN. The rifle fitted with a long range vernier style tang sight, with screw height adjusting disk aperture, & a small blade front sight. The stock carries a nickel plated Schuetzen buttplate. Bore is very good, with some spotty areas of roughness. This is a wonderful antique target/sporting rifle. Antique, No FFL Req - Value: 800 to 1500
