Description

C.S.Shattuck, American, CAL: 8 Ga, MFG: 1870's-80's, S/N: 48, Break Action Single Shot, 35 1/2'' barrel. The straight wrist wood stock & forend is good. Has small nicks, dings, dents, & wear. There is a 3'' crack on the right side of the stock, on the base of the comb. There is a 1'' crack on the right side of the forearm that emanates from the receiver. There are a few more small cracks on the wrist of the stock. The metal of the buttplate is proud to the wood at the heal of the comb. There is a brass reinforcement bolt through the wrist of the stock. The metal of the barrel has toned to a black/brown patina with spots of gun metal gray showing through. The Damascus pattern is present but is faint. The receiver's metal is a gun metal gray with areas of gray/brown patina. The top rear of the barrel is marked ''AMERICAN'', the marking is faint & worn. The bore is very good. Its bright with some roughness. The barrel holds a bade front sight. The stock carries a smooth steel buttplate. The shotgun has no sling points.
