Springfield Armory, Model: 1884, Cal: 45-70, MFG: 1889, S/N: 466371, Trapdoor breech loader rifle, 32 1/2'' barrel. This rifle appears to be a all original condition, ''survivor'', collector condition Rifle. The straight wrist Black walnut stock is excellent with only a few small nicks, dings, dents, & contusions from light use/wear. Left side of stock is marked with a clear & deep inspectors cartouche that reads ''SWP'', ''1889'' in a box. Bottom of wrist is marked with the circle ''P'' firing proof that is also clear & deep. Bottom of wrist is also marked with a small ''W'' stamp. The blued/ case hardened finish on this rifle is original & retains 92% on the barrel with small spots of scratches & small spots of thinning. With the original bluing still being deep & prominent. The original case hardening on the breech block is thinned on the exterior but is still clearly visible, while the interior of the breech block still has vivid, & intact case hardening. The rear of the barrel is marked with a ''V'' over ''P'' over a eagles head stamp, ''P'', & ''A'' stamps. Rear of reiver is marked with the S/N. top of breech block is marked ''U.S'', ''MODEL'', ''1884''. Lock plate is stamped with the great seal of the united states eagle, & ''U.S. SPRINGFIELD''. Bore is excellent. It is bright & mirror like with very little to no wear. Barrel holds a replaced blade front sight with the Buffington rear sight. Stock carries a blued steel buttplate marked ''US'' on the upper tang. Rifle has bottom sling loops with the stacking sling loop. Rifle has its cleaning rod.
