Springfield Armory, Model: M1 Garand, Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1942, 962728, Semi-auto Rifle, 24'' Barrel. The Semi-pistol grip, walnut stock is very good with various nicks, sings, dents, scratches & wear from use/age. There is a 1'' by 1 1/2'' spliced in wood stock repair on top rear of the stock. There is a faint, worn circle ''P'' firing proof stamp on bottom of wrist. The parkerized metal finish rates 93% overall with spots of light scratches & wear. Possibly was re-finish at a arsenal after the war. The rear of the receiver is marked ''U.S. RIFLE'', ''CAL. .30 M1'', ''SPRINGFIELD'', ''ARMORY'', & the S/N. the top of the charging handle is marked ''NM'' meaning it is a national match operating rod, no other national match markings on any other parts. The right side of the barrel is marked ''3-S-A-2-44'', ''P''. The left front of the barrel is marked ''EXEL/GARDNER.MA.'', which is a import stamp. The bore is very good. Its bright with strong rifling & intermediate roughness throughout the bore. The barrel holds a wide blade front sight with protective wings, & the rear of the receiver holds a fully adjustable aperture rear sight. The stock carries a checkered steel, trapdoor buttplate, no cleaning kit or rods inside. The rifle has two bottom sling loops with a stacking swivel. Rifle comes with a modern M1907 style leather sling that's marked ''SINGER CO'', ''1942''. Exel/Gardner imported a lot of M1's from south Korea in the 80's & 90's, that we gave to them as military aid back in the 50's, this is most likely one of those rifles. A excellent example of a battle used & worn M1 Garand. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 1300 to 2600
