Description

Walther, Model: P1, Cal: 9x19mm, MFG: March of 1979, S/N: 410538, Semi-auto pistol, 4 7/8'' barrel. The checkered plastic grips are excellent with only a few cosmetic scratches. The matte black finish rates 96% overall with only minor wear. The left side of the slide is marked with a circle with a dot inside, the Walther banner, ''P1 Kal 9mm'', ''3/79'' star, ''538''. The right side of the slide is marked with a box that has a faint symbol inside. The left side of the frame is marked with the S/N, a circle with a dot inside, &''BW''. The right side of the frame is marked ''W 7.89'' which is the date the frame screw reinforcement was done, & another square with a faint symbol inside. The front of the barrel lug is marked with a circle with a dot inside & another box with a faint simple inside. Bottom of the barrel is marked with import stamps. The circle with a dot inside means this pistol was inspected for Military/police standards at the Walther factory, a circle alone means it was just inspected for civilian standards. The ''BW'' stamp is a Bundeswehr property stamp. The bore is excellent. Its bright & mirror like with little to no visible wear. The barrel holds a wide barleycorn front sight with a white dot. The rear of the slide holds a wide square notch rear sight with a white marker. Pistol comes with two 8 Rd. Walther marked mags, & a black leather holster. The P1 is a evolution of the P.38 pistol by making the frame out of aluminum instead of steel. The German Bundeswehr original was issued allied handguns for their defense like Colt M1911's but they few stocks of the old P.38s from WW2 and wanted to standardize on the P.38. so in 1957 Walther started production back up but now with Aluminum frames & the Redesignation of P1. later on, Walther they realized the aluminum frames were not strong enough & started reinforcing the frame with a Hex Bolt above the trigger guard, & older pistols would be retrofitted with this update.
