Winchester, Model 53 Take-down, CAL: 25-20 W.C.F., MFG: 1927, SN: 10542, Lever Action Rifle, 22'' Tapered round barrel. 1/2 mag. In 1924, Winchester introduced the Model 53 lever-action rifle as a more modern version of the model 1892. Production lasted just 8 yrs until 1932, with limited production of 15,110 produced. The original straight grip wood stocks are excellent, with several minor scratches, scrapes & light contusions to the original finish. The original metal blue finish on the barrel & mag rates 85%, while the blue on the receiver rates 25% & the balance worn to a mix of gun metal gray & thin brown patina. Bore is excellent & bright. The rifle is fitted with a Marble's adjustable rear sight & a Marble's No. 2 front blade sight. Buttstock carries a grooved metal buttplate. A very nice looking example of a fairly rare model 53 take-down. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2000 to 4000
