Marlin, Model 1881 Burgess, 38-55 Cal., MFG. 1887 (Antique), SN: 17397, Lever Action Rifle, 24'' Octagon barrel, Full mag. The original wood stocks are good & solid. The finish has darkened with age, use & oiles. There are a few 1'' hairline cracks emanating from the lower tang. The foreend has a couple of 2'' crack repairs on the right side. The stocks also have several small to minor contusions, scratches or scrapes. The metal surfaces have worn to a mix of gun metal gray, brown patina & remaining blue, with most remaining coverage found on the barrel. Barrel carries the original adjustable rear & an elongated half moon blade front sights. Bore is fair, but with lots of roughness & scarring amongst strong rifling. Stock carries a crescent metal buttplate. Action remains tight & smooth. With approximately 20,000 produced in all calibers, these are fairly rare in any found condition. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
