Winchester, Model 1885 Schuetzen Rifle, .32-40 Cal., MFG. 1896, SN: 75112, Lever Action Single Shot Rifle, 29 1/2'' Full Octagon #4 Heavy barrel. This Rifle presents as a custom built replica of the factory special order Deluxe Schuetzen rifle. According to the Cody Museum Winchester Factory Records SN 75112 started life as a standard rifle in 32 WCF, with a 28'' #1 weight barrel. The rifle has since been customized & carries a number of features consistent with the deluxe Schuetzen models. It carries a XX 1st style Swiss cheeked stock, with a steep rise top comb, deluxe checkering, capped pistol grip & a nickeled Swiss Schuetzen buttplate. The Schnabel style forearm has an ebony inlay in the tip, deluxe checkering & a folding palm rest. Both stocks display fantastic grain & the majority of the high gloss finish. The are a handful scuffs & light handling marks as well as a small repair to the cheek edge & a 6'' thin finish level scratch on the right side of the stock. The metal blued finish on barrel rates at 95%, while the case-hardened receiver displays fantastic case colors, The lever has had the spur very nicely added to an original 1885 lever that has also been reshaped. The rifle carries double set triggers which work correctly. The bore rates excellent. Barrel is mounted with a 16'' Winchester A5 scope on Winchester mounts, a blank filled rear dovetail & silhouette front sight. The barrel is marked ''32-40'' on top of barrel flat & under forearm. The barrel is also marked with a ''4'' for barrel weight ahead of forearm & under forearm. It is also stamped with the assembly # ''6159'' under the forend. The side of left tang of the receiver is marked with ''XX'' & ''6159''. The buttplate is also stamped ''6159'', as is the buttstock on the buttend & upper channel. This rifle has a wonderful appearance & remains highly collectible as presented as a deluxe Schuetzen 1885 rifle. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 3000 to 6000
