Marlin Ballard, Model #4 Perfection, CAL: .45-100-2 7/8 Sharps Caliber Rifle, MFG: 1876-77, SN: 1685, Lever falling block single shot Rifle, 29 7/8'' Heavy round barrel. Matching serial numbers found on they the barrel, receiver & buttstock retaining tang. The left side of the action has the two line J. M. Marlin address & Ballard patent marking. The wood stocks rate good & solid, after having a 7'' & 3'' stress cracks at the wrist repaired & with a couple additional 1'' hairline cracks at the wrist. The forend also has a glue repaired 3'' crack at the forend tip. Both the stock & forend have been sanded & refinished, with several areas or spots of fill on both the stock & forend. Both the barrel & receiver carry an older vintage reblue, with some abrasions, buffing & minor pitting under blue. No caliber marking remains, as it appears to have been removed. The barrel carries the stamped SN under the forend. Barrel carries an updated adjustable rear & Lyman half moon front blade sights. Bore is very good. Brown Mfg. deep set crescent metal buttplate carries the #2846. Custom ordered double set triggers. A solid of a #4 Perfection. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
