Winchester Model 54, CAL: .30 GOV'T'06., MFG: 1931, SN: 35168A, Bolt Action Rifle, 24'' barrel. The model 54 was the first successful civilian bolt action for Winchester. They are a fairly rare model with total production of just over 50,000 in all variations from 1925 to 36. The original checkered & flat pistol grip wood stock on this example is excellent, with several minor contusions, scrapes & scratches to the original finish. The finish has darkened some from use & oiling. The metal blue finish is toning gray with coverage rating 85% on the receiver, 75% on the barrel, with loss due more to density thinning rather than coverage. The floorplate & trigger guard display greater wear & toning gray. Bore rates excellent. The rifle is fitted with the desired & fully adjustable Lyman 48C receiver sight, while the barrel has a blank filled rear dovetail & standeard pinned blade front sight. Some wood alteration around the Lyman receiver sight. Buttstock carries the original serrated metal buttplate. Sling loops. A good example of an early Winchester bolt action. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 800 to 1500
