Winchester, Model 02 early variation, CAL: 22 S. L, & ExL., MFG: 1919-27, SN: NSN, Bolt Action Rifle, 18'' barrel. The 02 is a later variation of the 1902. Although the 02 was produced from 1919-31, the early variation marked .22 Short, Long & Ex Long was made until 1927 when the Ex Long was change to the more popular Long Rifle, thus this example is the earlier variation of the 02. The original straight grip wood stock is excellent, having been very lightly sanded & excellently refinished. There remains a number of minor handling marks or contusions stock. The original metal blue finish has worn mostly gun metal gray, with a thin brown patina. Bore is fair, with cleaned pitting & roughness amongst worn rifling.. The barrel holds a fixed rear & blade front sights. Stock carries a Winchester plastic buttplate. Serpentine trigger guard. A early variation 02 that presents very well.
