RARE Winchester, Model 69 Factory Scoped, .22 S.L.LR. Cal., MFG. 1935-63, SN: None, Bolt Action Rifle, 25'' Tapered barrel. During WWII, Winchester sold the British Government Model 697 rifles with scopes & no provisions for open sights, & Model 69 stamped rifles fitted with the same scopes, but also with open sights. After the war, Winchester sold some of these rare configured Mod 69 rifles, with the factory mounted scopes & open sights to the general public. The original pistol grip wood stock is excellent & solid, carrying the majority of the original finish. The stock has a number of minor dings & scratches, with a few nicks to the edge of the pistol grip. The metal blue finish on the barrel & receiver rates 80% overall. The trigger guard & mag floorplate have a brown patina. Bore is excellent. Rifle is fitted with an unmarked black scope, but matching scopes marked with Winchester stampings, mounted on Winchester scope rings & blocks. The proof stamping normally stamped on the top of the receiver & barrel, are both shifted to the left side to accommodate the factory mounted scope & bases. The receiver has a wheel adjusting sight, while the barrel has no rear sight & a hooded silver beaded blade front sight. Winchester buttplate, with a missing chunk to the left of the toe.
