Rock Island Arsenal, Model: M1903, Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1920, S/N: 377829, Bolt action rifle, 24'' barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock is good as being lightly sanded & a high gloss finish was applied. stock has nicks, dings, & scratches from use/age. Two stock break points on the right side, one across the wrist & one just behind the forward recoil lug. Breaks have arsenal repairs & are solid. The upper handguard has a couple small cracks where it meets the rear sight. Markings are faded from sanding. The bottom of the wrist has a ''P'' in circle firing proof. The left side of the stock, above the trigger, is marked ''SADAL''. This stamp means it was re-furbished at Springfield Armory, with the inspector initials of Daniel A. Leary, who worked at Springfield from 1916-36. The metal has a arsenal re-finish with sports of roughness under the finish. The black parkerized finish rates 85% overall with spots of thinning & spots starting to tone brown. The receiver band is marked ''U.S.'', ''ROCK ISLAND'', ''ARSENAL'', ''MODEL 1903'', & the S/N. the top end of the barrel is marked ''S A'', flaming bomb, ''7-18''. Bolt handle marked ''J 5''. The bore is poor. Dark with consistent pitting & roughness. The barrel holds a blade front sight with a Buffington, ladder U-notch rear sight. The stock carries a steel trapdoor buttplate, toned brown with roughness. Rifle has both bottom sling loops with the third stacking swivel. Rifle comes with a M1905 bayonet with sheath/frog. Marked ''U.F.H.'' & ''1942''. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
