Springfield Armory, Model: M1 Garand, Danish re-built, Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1943, S/N: 2510478, Semi-auto rifle, 24 barrel. The semi-pistol grip walnut stock is excellent with only a few minor scuffs. The bottom of the wrist has the P in circle firing proof. The left side of the stock, just behind the trigger, is marked S.A. over G.A.W. in a box, this is the inspector stamp for Lt. Col. George A. Woody, he was a military inspector at Colt from 1929-32 & Springfield from 1941-44. Just to the right of that is the crossed cannons US acceptance stamp. The metal has an arsenal re-finish with a couple small spots of roughness under the finish. The parkerized finish rates 97% overall with spots of scratches & wear. The bottom of the barrel, under the op-rod, has some old grease & surface rust. Old grease also inside action. The rear of the receiver is marked ''U.S. RIFLE'', ''CAL. .30 M1'', ''SPRINGFIELD'', ''ARMORY'', & the S/N. The top of the bolt has part numbers, ''P.B.'' & stamped ''3891'', this is a Beretta made bolt. Op-rod handle is marked ''L''. The right side of the barrel, under the op-rod is marked with a crown over ''VAR'', ''D6535448'', ''4-57'', ''276'', a crown over ''DK'', ''M'', & ''KOA'' in a circle. This is a Danish made barrel with the ''VAR'' marking for ''Vaabenarsenalet'' or ''Arms Arsenal''. The bore is very good. Its bright with light roughness. The barrel holds a squared post front sight with protective wings. The right wing has a ding/nick mark on the rear. Rear of receiver holds a fully adjustable, aperture rear sight. The stock carried a checkered, parkerized steel trap door buttplate. Trap door has nothing inside. Rifle has both bottom sling loops with the third stacking swivel. When the Danish would re-built their M1 Garands they would use Danish VAR barrels, & Beretta replacement parts. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2500
