ROF Fazackerley, Model: No.1 Mk.3 star SMLE, Cal: .303 British, MFG: Pre 1945, (1907-45), S/N: EC20125 (X serial block), Bolt action rifle, 25 barrel. The two piece, semi-pistol grip walnut stock is very good as being lightly sanded & refinished. Stock has a couple small nicks, dings & scratches from use. Arsenal repaired heel & toe with nail reinforcement. There is a 2 1/4'' tight crack on the left side of the forend, emanating from the wrist band. The right cheek of the stock has two roundel cartouches, one is worn illegible with only the outline visible, the other reads ''TDE'' over an arrow, over ''(W)'', marking is faded but still legible. This is an Indian stores or depot marking from the 1960s. the right cheek has ''410'' marked in white paint. Faint remains of crown proof marks on the bottom of the wrist. S/N marking on the bottom end of the forend, marking is worn but appears to match the rifle. The metal has an arsenal re-finish, done when it went through refurbishment at Fazackerley in 1949. The metal & metal parts have light roughness/cleaned pitting under the finish. The finish rates 90% overall with spots of thinning & brown patina. The right rear of the receiver is marked with import stamps. The receiver band is marked with three proof marks & the S/N. The rear of the receiver is marked with a couple proof. The left side of the wrist band is marked ''NO.1MK.III*'', ''FR49''. More small proof marks on other metal parts. S/N matching bolt. The bore is excellent. Bright & mirrorlike with minor wear. The barrel holds a square post front sight with protective ears, & a tangent U-notch marked 2 to 20. The stock carries a brass trapdoor buttplate that has dings & wear. Nothing inside trapdoor. The rifle both bottom sling loops. Rifle comes with the correct pattern 1907 Bayonet, dated 1942. Ricasso has been scrubbed & remarked, unknown mfg. mismatched S/N stamped into side of pommel. This rifle was produced pre 1945 & the orginal markings were scrubbed off when it was refubished. This rifle was sent to india some time after refubishment as it has a Indian cartouche from the 1960's on it. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
