Izhevsk, Model: M91/30 Mosin, Cal: 7.62x54mmR, MFG: 1942, S/N: RB1912, Bolt action rifle, 28 1/2'' barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is good with numerus nicks, dents, chips, scuffs & scratches from use/age. The left cheek of the stock has multiple worn illegible cartouches. The right side of the toe has old yellow paint. The blued metal is a arsenal re-blue & rates 90% on the barrel with some spots of wear & scratches. The receiver finish rates 95% with spots of light thinning & scratches. The left side of the receiver is stamped with the S/N. The top rear of the barrel is marked with a hammer & sickle in wheat wreath stamp, a half-worn arrow in triangle stamp, ''1942r', the S/N, a full arrow in triangle stamp, & many other proof marks. The right end of the barrel is stamped with import marks. Some markings are faded from the re-blue job. Most metal parts has roughness/machining marks under finish from re-bluing/ rushed manufacture/ magazine floorplate has been buffed clean & left un-finished. S/N matching buttplate, mismatched bolt & magazine floor plate. Floorplate marked 5650, bolt is marked 2650( the ''2'' stamp on the bolt looks weird & possibly is a miss stamped 5). The bore is very good. Its bright with consistent light roughness. Has been counter bored; This was common practice to do to all rifles sent to a arsenal for refurb since worn crowns were a common issue caused by the improper use of the steel cleaning rod. Rifles were counter bored whether they needed it or not since counterboring it removes the problem with the cleaning rods. This problem was so widespread that they had tools to counter bore at field repair stations. The barrel holds a post front sight with protective globe. Rear sight is a tangent U-notch marked 1 to 20 the top of the rear sight has been polished. The stock carries a blued steel buttplate, has a spot of wear that's gun metal gray. Rifle has both sling wells & added sling loops. Rifle has a cleaning rod. This rifle is possibly a German captured & re-furbished M91/30. German captured M91/30s have four traits to ID them. They had blued bolts, different font on the S/Ns of bolts, buttplate, & magazine floorplates from scrubbing & force matching to the rifle. They polished the rear sights & have star stamps on the stocks. They are rarely seen with all four traits & sometimes with just one, almost all had blued bolts though. The majority of these rifles were sold to Finland, but this rifle does not have a Finnish property mark. The bolt is also mismatched to the rifle, explains why its not blued. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 250 to 500
