Nagoya Arsenal (Japan), Model: Type 99, Cal: 7.7x58mm, MFG: 1941-43, S/N: 52568 (6th series), Bolt action rifle, 26 barrel. The semi-pistol grip wood stock is good with various nicks, dings, dents, scratches & wear from use/age. There is a 3'' by 2'' round stock fill repair on the left side, just behind the wrist. There is a 3'' grain pop/crack on the right cheek of stock. The two-piece buttstock is normal for Japanese rifles of this era, this was done to make the stocks stronger, easier to repair, & made better use of the wood to make the stock. The blued metal finish retains almost full coverage with areas of thinning, light rust/patina, & ground down spot on the receiver where the ''Mum'' was ground off. Light rust emanating from under rear sight. Overall rating of 75%. The left side of the receiver is marked with the S/N, the Nagoya Arsenal Logo, & one small inspection stamp. The top of the receiver is marked ''TYPE 99'' in Japanese, the chrysanthemum would sit right above that. It grounded off when it was surrendered at the end of WW2. The chrysanthemum was ground off as a show of respect to Japan & the emperor, since it was the Imperial Seal of Japan & showed that it was owned by the emperor. S/N mismatched bolt, S/N matching front barrel band. The firing pin has been clipped/cut down & would need to be replaced if you want to fire the rifle, rifle functions normally otherwise. The bore is very good, its bright with use wear. Chrome lined bore (the type 99 was the first Military rifle to have a chrome lined bore) the barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with protective ears, & a flip up ladder aperture rear sight, the ladder is marked 3 to 15. The stock carried a cupped steel buttplate with wear & patina. Rifle is missing the cleaning rod & both sling swivels. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 500
