RARE, Ruger, Hawkeye, CAL: WIN 256 MAG, MFG: 1963-64 only, SN: 454, Single Shot Pistol, 8 1/2'' barrel. This pistol was fully & professionally restored. The left side of the barrel is marked ''RUGER HAWKEYE/WIN .256 MAG.CAL.'' & the Ruger Pheonix logo. The left side of the frame is marked ''STURM, RUGER & CO/SOUTHPORT,CONN.USA''. SN on the right side of the frame. Round cylinder was replaced by a rectangular rotating breechblock. The Ruger logo medallion wood grips are excellent. There are minor handling marks. The blued finish on the barrel rates 99%, & the frame rates 98%, toning plum. The factory barrel taps have been filled. The matte finish on XR3-RED grip frame rates 99%. Bore is excellent, near mint. Adjustable rear sight & elevated serrated blade front sight. There were only 3,043 mfg., making these very rare. Although this example was restored, these still hold a lot of value & would be worth significantly more if in original condition. The Ruger Hawkeye .256 is a fine long-range handgun.
