Charleville (French), Model 1777 Cavalry Flintlock, CAL: 67, MFG: 1780, SN: NONE, Flintlock Pistol, 7 1/2'' barrel.
HISTORY: This is the gun copied by North & Cheney for the U.S Model 1799 pistol.
MARKINGS: The bottom of the frame is faintly marked ''CHARLEVILLE''. In between the action is ''F/80''. Top Tang: ''M1777. Left side of barrel ''S8C''. Proof mark on the ramrod.
CONDITION: The original wood grips are very good & solid. There is an edge chip repair on the top of the right grip, with smoothed contusions & scrapes throughout. The barrel, belt hook & action have all worn to metal gray & toned to a dark brown patina. The brass frame, trigger guard & butt all have an aged patina, with similar wear marks. Bore is poor, dark & pitted. No sights. A very early flintlock, almost 250 years old. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
