JP Sauer & Sohn, SxS Shotgun, CAL: 12GA, MFG: 1920's, SN: 215487, Break Action, 29 3/4'' barrels. This gun has been fully & professionally restored by R.L. Mathens in 1940's. The original stocks are excellent. They feature checkering, an engraved metal grip cap & beaded cheek. There are only minor handling marks to the applied finish. There is a dowel fill in the belly of the stock from a sling stud provision & there are two filled screw holes in the bottom rib for sling loop. The metal blue finish on the barrels rates 98%, with cleaned pitting underneath the re-blued finish. The case-hardened receiver & forend release lever have excellent, vivid case-colors. Bores are excellent, with minor wear from use. The solid matted rib holds a single front bead. Stock has a solid black rubber recoil pad with an aged leather butt end. Dual triggers. Mechanically excellent. A very nicely restored German shotgun. LOP: 14 3/4'' overpad to front trigger. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
