EA Armstrong Co., Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.), M1860 Officer dress sword with scabbard, This sword was made for a member of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.), a veteran's organization made up of Union Soldiers from the civil war. It has a GAR superimposed monogram on the shell guard, between a Naval Anchor on the left, and three stacked rifles on the right. Blade is acid etched on the left side ricasso ''THE E.A.'', ''ARMSTRONG'', ''CO'', ''DETROIT'', ''MICH''. The wire wrapped wood grips have some chips & has darked from hand oils over time. The brass guard & pommel have patinaed showing a brown copper-like color. The blade has light speckled dark patina. scabbard has speckled patina. Made circa 1880's. Grade: Very Good - Value: 200 to 400
