RARE!!, ORIGINAL, Model 1876 Prairie Belt with 1879 3 D ring update, 45-70 cartridge belt for cavalry, The 1876 Prairie belt had no provisions to attach a pistol holster, revolver cartridge box, hunting knife, saber and bayonet so soldier regularly modified theirs to accept them by sewing on different attachments. In 1879 3 D Rings were added to the belt to allow attachment of such things. The inside of the belt has a faded name marking, belt has a couple small tears & cuts but nothing major, all cartridge loops are intact, leather has some cracking from age & part of the seams are coming undone on the strap, the leather is dry but still malleable whole belt has a old sweat smell to it. The brass buckle has a dark patina that's polished away where the belt rubs the brass. Grade: Excellent - Value: 400 to 800
