Winchester Model 1892 SHORT RIFLE, CAL: .44 WCF, MFG: 1899, SN: 136473, Lever Action Rifle, 18 7/8'' round barrel, full mag. The rifle presents as a Short Rifle, but may be a cut-down of a full rifle. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid. They have been cleaned & likely very lightly sanded, with added finish over the remains of original finish. There are numerous minor to small nicks, gouges, scratches & contusion which remain. The metal has worn mostly gun metal gray, with a very thin brown patina & remnants of original blue in the most protected areas. Bore is very good & bright, with even roughness amongst strong rifling. Barrel fitted with an adjustable rear sight, with replaced elevator & pinched blade front sight. Smooth crescent metal buttplate. Smooth tight action. This little rifle, would make be a great cowboy shoot companion to a revolver of the same 44 WCF caliber.
