Winchester Model 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine, CAL: 30 GOV. 06 (30-06), MFG: 1919, SN: 404553, Lever Action Rifle, 22'' barrel. The frame at the breech is marked with the WP proof & ''.30GOV'06.'', while the left side is marked with the two line address & patent information, ''MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED NOV. 5. 95. AUG. 17. 97. JAN. 25. 98. AUG. 23. 98. AUG 6. 1907.''. The upper tang is marked, ''Model 1895 Winchester Trade Mark REG. IN U.S. PAT. OFF. & FGN.''. The rifle features the 2/3 length military style forearm, with grasping grooves & military type handguard, & straight wrist stock. The walnut stocks are excellent, displaying few handling marks to the excellent original finish. The original metal blue finish rates 90% on the barrel, while the receiver is worn mostly gun metal gray due to ''Winchester Flaking'', with a thin brown patina developing & remnants of original blue remaining on the sides of the mag & around the saddle ring. The SN & ''B'' are stamped across the lower tang behind the trigger. Bore is excellent, with a bit of haze amongst strong rifling. Barrel holds a pinned blade front sight & folding ladder rear sight graduated 15-32 on the ladder & 6-14 on the stepped base. Buttstock carries the original smooth metal sliding trapdoor buttplate. Saddle ring. A very nice, near excellent, original model 1895 saddle ring carbine. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2000 to 3000
