Remington, Model 8, .25 REM CAL, MFG. 1911, SN: 25021, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. The original round knob pistol gripped wood stocks are very good & solid. The finish has worn, been lightly sanded & refinished. The stock has a couple of 2'' stress cracks emanating from the end of the upper tang & a couple of minor hairline cracks at the wrist against the receiver, along with a minor edge chip to the left side wrist at the receiver. There was also a sling stud hole in the belly of the stock, which was filled before the refinish. The forend has a 4'' repaired stress crack that runs along the belly of the forend from the receiver to the center screw. There are minor scrapes, scratches & contusions remaining on the wood. The original metal blue finish on the barrel rates 70%, with loss at the carry point near the receiver end & around the front sight where the sight base was re-braised. The finish on the receiver & mag has worn gun metal gray, with a thin spotty brown patina The receiver carries two added pins on the left side for unknown reason. The barrel carries a Marble's folding rear & front blade sights. Bore is good, but with darkened pitting or roughness amongst strong rifling. Stock carries the original Remington checkered plastic buttplate. 5 rd fixed magazine. A good looking early round knob rifle in the collectible .25 caliber. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 800
