Herkules Rolling Block Shotgun, CAL: 16 mm, MFG: circa 1870, SN: 1438, Single Shot, 31 3/8'' half octagon half round barrel. The barrel is marked ''HERKULES'', the left side of the frame is marked ''1438'', with two proofs in the upper left hand corner, next to the trigger guard & the right side of the frame is marked ''CROWN/C'' & ''1870''. The original checkered straight grip wood stock with beaded cheek is good & solid. There are numerous scratches, scrapes, nicks & dings, with added finish. The plain forend is poor, with a large chip on the right side & a crack on the left, along with similar wear patterns & finish as the buttstock. The blued finish on the barrel has 70% coverage & mostly toned to a brown patina. The frame has fully worn to metal gray & toned to a brown patina, with intermittent spotting. Bore is good & bright, with areas of intermittent roughness & scarring. Barrel carries a fixed rear sight & bead front sight. Stock has a smooth metal buttplate. Sling provision on the bottom of barrel & blank sling provision hole in the belly of the stock. Needs to be inspected by gunsmith before use. SOLD AS IS NO RETURNS.
