Custom Springfield Armory/ Milton Ash, M1 Garand, Cal: 7.62x51mm (.308), MFG: 1943 (re-built 2010), S/N: 2258499, Semi-auto rifle, 24'' barrel

HISTORY: This M1 Garand was hand fitted & polished by Milton Ash to a national match grade & re-chambered in 7.62x51mm. The rifle features a type II national match stock that was fitted to the rifle, the handguard was unitized & fitted as well. All parts were blueprinted & made to fit to this exact rifle perfectly. The bolt is a German Sauer & son that was polished on the lugs before being head-spaced, & all contact areas were honed to fit. All the internal parts were N.O.S. (new old stock) & were polished/fitted to this exact rifle. The rear sight is a surplus USGI National Match sight marked in meters. The rifle comes with a handwritten & signed letter from Milton confirming all these parts. the rifle also comes with three .50 cal ammo cans full of modern production match .308/7.62mm & surplus 7.62mm Nato on clips. 80 Rds. of Winchester white box ,FMJ 147Gr., target 7.62x51mm ammo, all in factory boxes. 340 Rds. Of Federal Premium, 168 Gr. Sierra Match king BTHP Gold medal Match, .308 Win. Twenty-five 8 Rd. clips (200 rds. Total) with a mix of Surplus FMJ 7.62x51mm & modern commercial production 7.62x51mm/.308. also comes with a BUNCH of clips for the M1. Comes with a total of 620 Rds. Of .308 Win/7.62x51mm Nato.

CONDITION: The semi-pistol grip walnut stock is very good with various small nicks, dings, & dents from its military national match days. The left flat of the stock has a half faded acceptance cartouche of a eagle under three stars in a box. The bottom of the wrist has the ''P'' in circle firing proof while the bottom of the pistol grip is marked ''X'' & ''3''. The right cheek of the stock is stamped ''1394'' (last 4 digits of the rifle the stock was pulled from). The receiver carries a arsenal re-parkerization & rates 99%. The black parkerized finish on the barrel rates 98'' with some light scratches at the end. The rear of the receiver is marked ''U.S. RIFLE'', over ''CAL.30 M1'', over ''SPRINGFIELD'', over ''ARMORY'', over the S/N. The right side of the barrel is marked ''WA-A-308-12'', ''MH 16''. The top of the bolt is marked ''50-652-8287'', over ''SUS'' next to two German military proof marks. The bore is Excellent border line MINT. It's bright & mirror-like with no visible wear. The barrel holds a blade front sight with protective wings. The rear of the receiver holds a fully adjustable aperture rear sight. The stock carries a parkerized, checkered steel trapdoor buttplate, edges are worn gray & plate has some rust, nothing inside trapdoor. The rifle has both factory sling loops & but the third stacking loop was removed. Rifle comes with a period correct, green canvas M1 web sling. There is a white spacer inside the action to prevent loading a 30-06 loaded clip. Mechanical function is excellent. A beautifully hand built National match spec M1 Garand that comes with a bunch of Match grade ammo & is ready for the range. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 2000 to 4000
