Springfield Armory, M1 Garand, Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1941, S/N: 406550, Semi-auto rifle, 24'' barrel
HISTORY: Based on the barrel markings this rifle was likely sold to Britain as part of the lend lease act. It was a act put in place at the beginning of WW2 for us to help allies by sending them equipment now, & after the war they had to pay it back. it was later proofed in Britain & eventually made its way back here state side.
CONDITION: The semi-pistol grip walnut stock is very good near excellent as being sanded & refinished. Only superficial nicks & scratches are present. There is a 1 3/8'' tight crack on the upper handguard emanating from the receiver. No visible cartouches on the stock. The metal carries a arsenal re-finish with some thinned markings & sots of roughness under the finish, as well as some spots of over applied stock varnish. The parkerized finish retains almost full coverage but has some universal thinning with spots of more wear & brown patina. The finish rates 85% overall. The rear of the receiver is marked ''U.S. RIFLE'', over ''CAL.30 M1'', over ''SPRINGFIELD'', over ''ARMORY'', over the S/N. The right side of the barrel has a line of British commercial proofs as well as the original MFG ''S-A-11-41''. The bore rates very good to good. Its bright with thinned rifling & roughness. The barrel holds a blade front sight with protective wings. The rear of the receiver holds a fully adjustable aperture rear sight. The stock carries a parkerized, checkered steel trapdoor buttplate, edges are worn gray & plate has some rust, nothing inside trapdoor. The rifle has both factory sling loops & the third stacking loop. Rifle comes with a period correct, green canvas M1 web sling. Mechanical function appears solid. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 1000 to 2000
