Nagoya Arsenal, Type 99, Cal: 7.7x58mm, MFG: 1941-42, S/N: 64461 (obliterated Series mark), bolt action rifle, 26'' barrel.
CONDITION: The semi-pistol grip Japanese beech (Buna) stock is very good with various nicks, dings, gouges, & scratches from use, one larger gouge on the left side of the stock by the magazine. Two-piece Japanese stock. no visible cartouches on the stock. The blued metal finish rates 70% overall with spots of roughness/rust, thinned finish & common handling spots starting to wear gray. The receiver band is marked with a ground off chrysanthemum (done after the war to surrendered rifles as a face-saving gesture), over ''TYPE 99'' in Japanese. The left side of the receiver is marked with the series mark (worn illegible), the S/N, the Nagoya Arsenal logo, & Japanese inspectors marks. S/N matching bolt (& all its components) the bolt handle has one concentrated spot of pitting. The bore is very good. It's bright & shiny with lightly thinned rifling & minor roughness in spots. Chrome lined bore & bolt face. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with protective ears & a flip up ladder aperture rear sight marked 3 to 15. Rear sight has the spots for the AA wings but they are missing. The stock carries a blued steel cupped buttplate that's toned brown with rust & roughness. The rifle has both factory sling loops. Missing cleaning rod. Mechanical function appears solid. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 350 to 700
