Colt, Model 1860 Army, CAL: 44, MFG: 1862, SN: 60457, Single Action Percussion Revolver, 7 7/8'' barrel. Civil War Era. The top of the barrel has a standard single line roll-stamp that is very worn & thinned, the beginning & end of the marking is visible but most of the marking in the middle has worn to the point that it is no longer legible. ''COLTS PATENT'' is stamped on the left side of the frame. No visible caliber marking. The Naval scene on the cylinder is not visible. All matching SN on the barrel housing, frame, trigger guard, & backstrap. There is a cartouche behind the trigger guard reading ''H''. The wood grips are very good, near excellent, solid having some contusions, dings, & scratches throughout. The grip has several small edge chips, most notably a gash near the bottom of the grip on the left side. The metal on the gun has evenly toned to a chocolate patina. Bore is fair, the rifling is strong but unevenly worn near the muzzle. The bore has darkened substantially with even roughness throughout & light pitting. Mechanically fair, some of the mechanical functionality seems to have been lost. The trigger functions properly & the hammer has the first three clicks but will not fully lock in the rearward position. The cylinder does not solidly lock into position & will quite easily rotate clockwise. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
