Colt, Single Action Army (Late First Gen), CAL: 357 Mag, MFG: 1939, SN: 356801, SAO Revolver, 5 1/2'' Barrel. The authentic stag grips are excellent with light age soiling. The blue on the barrel & ejector housing has thinned substantially with approximately 40% original blue & the remainder being thinned to expose gun metal grey & toning to a brown patina. The color case hardening on the frame has faded substantially leaving behind a gun metal gray that is beginning to tone to a brown patina with shadows of case color. The hammer, trigger, trigger guard, & backstrap rate approximately 30% with substantial handling wear. The blue on the cylinder has worn to a gun metal gray & has begun to tone to a brown patina with original blue in the flutes & other protected areas. ''COLT'S PT. F.A .MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.'' is roll stamped on the top of the barrel. The side of the barrel has a roll stamp that reads ''Single Action Army 357''. The left side of the frame has a standard 2 line patent roll stamp & a Rampant Colt logo that are clear & legible. The serial number on the frame is slightly faded but remains clear & legible. Bore is very good, near excellent, bright with strong rifling. There is one small but deep gash on the inside of the bore near the center of the barrel. Mechanically excellent, seems to function well. The action has all four distinct clicks that one would expect from a SAA. The clicks in the action are very tactile & audible. A fixed front sight is integral to the barrel, a rear sight notch is cut into the frame. Comes with a factory letter providing some basic information about the firearm.
