J. Stevens & Co., New Model Pocket Rifle 2nd Issue, CAL: 32 RF, MFG: 1875-96, SN: 9069, Single Shot Tip Up Rifle, 12'' Barrel.
HISTORY: These mid to late 1800's target rifles were meant to be portable, light weight, and accurate. They have stocks that slide into a dovetail cut on the bottom of the grip and are secured by a screw in the back of the grip. These antique ''Pocket Rifles'' are specifically exempt from the NFA and do not require an SBR tax stamp even though they have a short barrel and a stock.
CONDITION: The wood grips are very good, solid with light wear & several gouges on the side of the left grip panel. The nickeled finish on the brass frame retains approximately 60% coverage & has a thick layer of haze. The stock has some small remainders of nickel in protected areas. The blue on the barrel has toned to a thick chocolate patina with some original blue in protected areas. Bore is good, slightly darkened and strong with some splotches of shallow pitting & consistent roughness throughout. Mechanically solid, seems to function well. The barrel holds a hooded fixed front sight & a flip up rear sight. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 400 to 800
