Unknown Maker, Pinfire Derringer, CAL: 9mm Pinfire, MFG: Circa 1830's-1870's, SN: 41, SxS Single Action Pinfire Derringer with Folding Triggers, 3 3/4'' Barrel. The wood grips are excellent, solid with some handling wear. The gun appears to have been buffed leaving a small amount of original finish in pitting around the gun. Engravings around the gun are still visible but there are no visible proof marks or factory markings. The bores are poor with substantial pitting. The barrels appear to be slightly off center leaving very thin material between the bores. The gun was likely originally 7mm pinfire and was probably rechambered by the original owner to take 9mm pinfire, a cartridge which was more commonly used for revolvers, in order to have easier access to ammunition. Mechanically solid, all mechanisms seem to function well. The barrels seem to be too thin to withstand being fired. Needs to be inspected by a licensed gunsmith before firing. The gun has no sights. Comes in a wooden frame backed by felt. The frame has two metal loops, each holding a round of 9mm pinfire. The frame has wooden hardware which holds the gun. There is a piece of paper reading ''1840 Belgium Double Barrel 9mm Pinfire'' that appears to be glued to the felt. Antique, no FFL Req. - Value: 100 to 500
