DELUXE Marlin, Model 1893, CAL; 32-40, MFG: 1904, SN: 309731, Lever Action Rifle, 22'' round barrel, 1/2 mag. The original deluxe checkered & scalloped pistol grip wood stock rates only fair due to a full break & attempted repair at the wrist. The repair shows glue at the repaired break, along with three dowels, one within the checkering & two running parallel behind the wrist. Stock is pretty solid & could be cleaned up more to make the repair less noticeable. The rippled grain on the stock is fantastic. The forearm is likely a model replacement & was non-factory hand checkered. There are minor scrapes & dings to the wood.. The original metal blue finish on the barrel has worn to 60%, with areas of thinning developing a brown patina & some worn to gun metal gray. The receiver is case-hardened & has fully worn gun metal gray, with a very thin layer aged patina & remnants of case-colors remaining in protected areas. The bottom of the barrel 4'' from muzzle has an odd filled dovetail. Bore is excellent, with light visible wear. The barrel holds an adjustable rear sight & blade front sight. Stock carries a smooth crescent metal buttplate with added case-colors. The top tang screw is a more recent replacement. A neat old gun that needs further restoration to bring it back to glory.
