RARE DELUXE Winchester, Model 1890, NICKELED SWISS BUTTPLATE, 2nd variation, .22 WRF, Cal., MFG. 1905, SN: 234341, Pump Action Rifle, 24'' Tapered Octagon barrel. RARE LETTERED DELUXE, CAPPED PISTOL GRIP, WITH EXCEEDINGLY RARE NICKELED SWISS BUTTPLATE. According to the consignor, only 22 1890 rifles were produced with the rare Swiss buttplate. The deluxe, hand checkered & capped pistol grip wood stock is excellent. The stock displays excellent X quality rippled grain, which matches the single ''X'' stamping on the side of the lower left tang. The tang is also stamped with the assembly # 20649, which is also stamped on the end of the buttstock under the buttplate along with ''90'' for the model. The stock carries the original finish, with excellent checkering having the points rounded some from normal carry wear. There are small handling marks & light contusions. The forearm is a corncob style, which is correct as the letter refers to the rifle being ordered with only a checkered stock. The factory metal blue finish has 85% coverage on the barrel & mag, with some toning of the blue on the edges as it thins. The receiver retains about 75% of blue, with wear top & bottom & on lower tang. As indicated in the letter, the rifle is fitted with a Lyman large cup disc tang peep sight, folding leaf rear & a wind gauge sporting front globe sight, with ivory bead. Excellent bore. Comes with the factory letter. This is an extremely rare, & highly desirable special order rifle, with a rare configuration collectors desire.* FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 12000 to 16000
