Winchester, Model 74, Marked .22 LONG RIFLE, MFG. 1948, SN: 185843A, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' Tapered round barrel, Although some 400,000 plus model 74 rifles were produced, it is a rifle that is seldom encountered & little is know. Cartridges load through the buttstock once the mag follower is removed through the buttplate. High condition factory original examples such as this rifle do command a premium among collectors. The original American straight grain walnut & pistol grip stock is excellent & carries the factory finish. There are very few finish level contusions or scuffs. Factory metal blue finish is 95% overall. Bore is excellent. Fitted with an adjustable rear sight & factory front sight. The unusual receiver mounted safety functions by sliding it side to side within a dovetail channel. An excellent & original condition, Winchester semi-auto .22. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 500 to 1000
