Rheinmetall ABT Sommerda Double Barrel Shotgun, CAL: 16GA, MFG: 1910's-30's, SN: 44676, Break Action SxS Shotgun, Choke: Full/Mod, 26'' barrel. The checkered, cheeked & capped pistol grip wood stock is very good, having been lightly sanded & refinished. The stock has an added 1'' insert, a rear sling stud filled hole & contusions, scratches/dings to the finish. The water table is marked with two German eagle proofs, crowned ''U'', ''16'' in a circle, ''16'' without a circle, crowned ''S'', crowned ''W'' & a ''Nitro'' proof toward the barrel end. The forend hardware is marked ''676''. The right side of the barrel is marked '' RHEINMETALL'' above ''EHRHARDT / LAUF'' in a circle, with an encircled diamond in the center. The left side of the barrel is marked ''ABT. SOMMERDA.'' above ''EHRHARDT / LAUF'' in a circle, with an encircled diamond in the center. The original metal blue finish on the barrel rates 70%, with spotting, toned to a thin brown patina & areas worn to metal grey. The receiver, break lever, trigger guard & forend release lever are all hand engraved with ornamental scroll. The receiver is case-hardened, toned to metal grey, with faint case-colors remaining in protected areas. Bores are excellent & minty. The solid, matted rib holds a single front bead. Ebony wood insert in place of buttplate or recoil pad. A beautiful German made shotgun. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 500 to 1000
