Winchester, Model 1895 Lee Navy, CAL: 6mm USN, MFG: 1896 (1st year), SN: 704, Straight-Pull Cam Action Rifle, 24'' tapered barrel. The semi pistol grip wood stock is very good with light scratches, nicks, dents & wear form use/age, top of stock by buttplate is marked ''236''. The metal finish rates 75% overall with spots of thinned bluing & brown patina. Left side of receiver is marked, ''-MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.-'', ''NEW HAVEN.CONN.U.S.A.PAT.OCT.10.93.JAN.30.94.OCT.8.95.'', Top of receiver is marked, ''-U.S.N.-'', Navy anchor, ''NO 704'', ''-N.C.T.-''. Bore is excellent, bright with strong rifling. Hooded blade front sight, U-notch ladder rear sight marked 8 to 20. Metal trapdoor buttplate worn gray with brown patina, pull through cleaning kit inside buttstock. Bottom sling swivels, stacking swivel, rear sling provision. Comes with period leather sling, bayonet with sheath & frog, front barrel band screw is loose & fall's out. Only around 12,000 of these rifles were made making them pretty rare today & nice collectors pieces. For correct box of ammo for this rifle reference lot 30964 in this auction.
