Nambu Company, type 38 training rifle CAL: 6.5 x 50mmSR blanks or special training ammo ONLY, not safe to fire with normal ammo, MFG: 1927-30's, S/N: M393, Bolt Action Rifle, 30 1/4'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip wood stock is very good with contusions, scratches, scrapes & dings, darkened with oils over time, vice marks on different parts of stock, 2 1/4'' glue repaired crack on bottom of stock in front of magazine flood plate, 9 1/2'' tight stress crack emanating from left of upper tang to front of magazine floor plate, 1'' crack emanating from right of upper tang, ''50'' in white on left side of stock, Japanese markings in box on right side of stock. The metal finish rates 70% overall, with a mix of metal grey & brown patina. Top of receiver is marked with a star. The left side of receiver is marked with S/N, S/N mismatched bolt, bolt does not have front locking lugs. Bore is good, Smoothbore with light pitting & roughness in spots. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight & V-notch ladder rear sight marked 4 to 24. Buttstock carries a military style buttplate, with brown patina & rust. missing cleaning rod, comes with worn leather sling. This is a training rifle meant for cadets or children getting ready for military service, they were made smoothbore & some have locking lugs on the bolt, some do not, they were NOT made to fire live normal ammunition only blanks & special training ammunition, & are NOT safe to fire normal ammunition out of.
