Colt, Police Positive, CAL: 38, MFG: 1908, SN: 24962, Double Action Revolver, 6'' barrel. The top of the barrel is marked in two lines ''COLT'S PT F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.'', ''PAT'D AUG.5.1884 JUNE 5.1900 JULY 4 1905''. The left side of the barrel is marked ''COLT POLICE POSITIVE 38''. The left side of the frame is marked in a circle ''COLTS NEW POLICE'' with the Rampant Colt logo in the center. The full SN can be found on the frame & cylinder swing gate. The original, Colt marked checkered hard rubber grips are excellent. The metal blue finish rates 70%, with areas of wear & spotting toned to a brown patina. Bore is excellent, with roughness between rifling. The barrel holds a blade front sight. The Police Positive was very successful, along with the Colt Official Police. The two dominated the law enforcement firearms market in the early 1900's. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
