FABULOUS ENGRAVED, Colt, Model Python, CAL: .357 Magnum, MFG: 1980, SN: LA0783, Double Action Revolver, 2 RARE 8'' barrel. This is believed to be a very rare Colt Custom Shop special order engraved revolver. The Colt Python was commonly produced with 2 1/2'', rare 3'', 4''.& 6'' barrel lengths, with most collectors claim 8'' barrel length examples were made up from remaining Python Target Model barrels. This rare engraved 8'' revolver carries an 8'' barrel marked ''PYTHON 357 .* 357 MAGNUM CTG * '' which was most commonly found on custom shop produced revolvers. The fantastic hand engraving is done in a scroll & vine pattern, with dot punch background reminiscent of a New York pattern. It comes in a rare Colt display case, as seen with other colt factory engraved revolvers. The Rampant Colt gold medallion walnut grips are also special as they have finer checkering, scalloped bottom line & the diamond centers, which are near mint on this example. The high polish Nickeled finish is also near mint & fabulous. Bore is mint. The satin finished top of the ventilated rib barrel holds a screw height adjusting ''U'' notch rear sight & black front blade sight. The consignor has passed, but his note claim the revolver was a Factory Custom Shop special order. Truly spectacular & extremely collectible & desirable. Worthy of the finest collections.
