Winchester, Model 1873, 3rd Variation, CAL: 38 WCF, MFG: 1887, SN: 254136B, Lever Action Rifle, 24 1/4'' Octagon barrel. Full Mag. The original straight grip wood stock & forend are very good, having been sanded & refinished. The stock has a small corner sliver missing at the right side of the lower tang where the stock meets the receiver. There remains some minor contusions, scratches, & scrapes. The metal finish has toned to a smooth, but thinning chocolate brown patina. Bore is good, with some light pitting & spotting amongst proud rifling. The barrel holds an adjustable rear sight & pinched silver blade front sight. Stock carries a sliding trapdoor crescent metal buttplate. Tight smooth action. Comes with a Cody Winchester Factory Records Letter, which confirms dates & configuration. This antique rifle has a nice authentic appearance & remains in very good condition.
