Winchester, Model 71 Deluxe Long Tang, marked 348 W.C.F., MFG. 1936, SN: 2200 (2nd Year Production), Lever Action Rifle, 24'' Round barrel, 2/3 tube mag holds 4 cartridges. Improved model 1886, with just 47,254 made & far fewer as deluxe models which are in high demand amongst collectors & command premium values. The checkered & capped pistol grip wood stocks are near excellent, solid & original. They are stamped with ''CEJ'' on both sides of the stock near the buttplate. It is well done & may be an organizational stamping, but the origin is unknown. The stocks do show thinning wear of the original finish at the carry points & around toe & buttplate. Stocks also have several minor scratches & contusions. Metal finish is 90% coverage of original blue on barrel & mag., 80% on receiver with loss on the belly due to carry wear. Lever & cap show flaking, retaining 50% on lever, 70% on forend cap. The rifle carries the rare 100 & 200 yard adjustable breech bolt peep sight, with a blank filled rear dovetail & hooded ramp front sight. Factory checkered metal buttplate. Excellent bore.
